Certified as a Bikotel accommodation, Casa Princesa Peralta provides specialized services and facilities for cyclists, making it an ideal starting point for unforgettable bike rides. If you prefer hiking, numerous scenic trails await your exploration.
This is also the perfect place for those who love mysticism and romance, as the house’s name is inspired by a local legend—the tragic love story of Princess Peralta and Prince Lausus.
According to the legend, Arunce, a Moorish king of Conímbriga, built Lousã Castle as a refuge. When Conímbriga was attacked by the Christian prince Lausus, Arunce fled there with his daughter, Peralta. However, as they escaped, Peralta and Lausus exchanged glances and fell in love. Not knowing where the princess had gone, Lausus wandered deep into the mountains searching for her. Upon learning of this, Arunce pursued him, and in their fateful confrontation, both men perished—leaving the princess alone and forgotten in the castle.
It is said that Lausus gave his name to Lousã, while Arunce inspired the name of the nearby river (Arouce). As for Peralta, legend has it that her sorrowful sighs can still be heard from time to time, as she waits for her lost prince.
Is it true? Is it just a tale? There’s only one way to find out—come and experience the magic for yourself!
