A day to learn how to shape clay with your own hands, at the rhythm of the earth.
On August 16, the Schist Village of Cerdeira will once again host an introductory workshop on manual ceramic techniques at Cerdeira – Home for Creativity, led by artisan Rita Pereira.
Throughout the day, participants will learn how to shape clay with their hands and create functional pieces such as cups, bowls, or plates. The workshop covers different hand-building methods (pinch, coil, and slab), basic knowledge about the material, and how to handle it — from preparation to drying. There's also room for creativity by using local flora to personalize the pieces. All materials are included. The pieces will be fired in an electric kiln after the necessary drying time.
Registrations, which include a fee, must be completed by August 11. The workshop will only take place with a minimum number of participants. In case of cancellation, the fee will be refunded.
For a more immersive experience, participants can choose to stay overnight in one of the village's rural tourism houses, designed to offer a comfortable stay in harmony with the natural surroundings.
