The Land of Giants (Terra de Gigantes) Ultramarathon is not just an ultramarathon. It is an epic journey between the highest point in mainland Portugal and the Atlantic Ocean, connecting Torre da Serra da Estrela to Nazaré, in an intense 303.8 km trip through demanding landscapes, authentic communities and a winter that tests limits.
Organised by Horizontes: Turismo Desportivo, this event will take place between 15 and 18 January 2026, starting at 11:00 am at the Tower (Seia) and with a time limit of 74 hours. The route is linear, with GPS navigation, totalling 10,815 metres of positive elevation gain and passing through several Schist Villages — Fajão, Casal Novo, Comareira, Gondramaz, Aigra Nova, Candal and Talasnal — providing direct contact with the mountains, tradition and the territory.
The athletes will be welcomed on 14 January and the award ceremony is scheduled for 18 January at 3.30 pm. The race awards 6 ITRA points (Mountain Level 3) and is part of the highest level of the ATRP - Associação de Trail Running de Portugal (Portuguese Trail Running Association).
Registration and detailed information on participation and regulations are available on the event's official website.
