The parish of Montes da Senhora, in Proença-a-Nova, is once again hosting the Cherry and Lemon Festival, an event that celebrates the best of the region with a diverse program combining tradition, music, gastronomy, and sports.
Taking place from May 23 to 25, the event kicks off on Friday, May 23, with an evening of fado by Telma Pires, followed by a performance from the band Electric Talhadas.
On Saturday, May 24, the highlights include the Solemn Ceremony for the Parish Day, a festive show with Arrepiados da Boiodraba, and a live cooking demonstration by Chef Gonçalo Martins, who will delight the audience with his culinary skills. The evening promises lively entertainment with concerts by Diogo e Marco, Rouxinol Faduncho, and the Jorge Gonçalves Trio.
Sunday, May 25, starts early with the 217th Hiking Tour and the traditional Cherry Race at 8:30 a.m. In the afternoon, folk culture takes center stage with the 21st Folklore Festival, featuring performances by the Folkloric Group "Os Loureiros" from Lardosa, the Harvesters Folkloric Group from Porto Muge (Valada Parish), the Folkloric Group from Pampilhosa da Serra, and the Group of Dances and Songs from Montes da Senhora.
Organized by the Municipality of Proença-a-Nova, in partnership with the Parish Council of Montes da Senhora, the Friends’ League, and CSCRPMS, the event aims to promote local products and folk culture in a warm and family-friendly environment.
